Summer Ankara Fashion

I’ve always been someone into fashion and beauty, but never took it serious to the extent of creating a fashion blog per-say. However, this is the perfect platform to showcase my fashion ideas.

I’m sure most of you aren’t familiar with the term “Ankara fabric.” The fabric is also commonly known as “Ankara prints.” It features vibrant patterns and is usually a colorful cloth. Primarily associated with Africa because of its tribal-like patterns, us Nigerians swear by this fabric, especially in the summer since it makes our melanin pop when the sun hits our skin. Because of that reason alone, I decided to have a custom Ankara outfit made for my day to slay!

Thanks to Pinterest (if you don’t use the app, you better start) I found a multitude of outfit ideas I could’ve gotten designed. Ultimately, I ended up choosing the outfit below and my seamstress did a pretty damn good job. I was able to grab my open toed mule heels on sale from Aldo (thank goodness for a good sale). And the purse, well I snagged that from a good old thrift store for $3 dollars.

I’m not sure about you, but I love having custom outfits designed to my liking. Not only does it feel more personable, but it’s an amazing feeling knowing you helped designed the outfit you’re rocking. What about you? Do you like going to a seamstress or do you prefer buying an outfit from H&M or another store? Drop your thoughts on your favorite summer time fashion below!!

xoxo,

B
